Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal today announced his resignation from the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position of Zomato’s parent firm Eternal Limited, with effect from 01 February, 2026. However, he will continue to be a part of the board of directors as Vice Chairman. In a letter addressed to the shareholders, Goyal also stated that Albinder Dhindsa, who is currently the CEO of Blinkit, will take over as the new chief executive of the Group.

Deepinder Goyal further said, “Albinder Dhindsa, Akshant, and I will continue to work closely together, as we always have. Our partnership, shared context, and trust remain unchanged. All our business CEOs will continue operating with the autonomy they have always had.”

However, as part of the major leadership change, the centre of gravity for operating decisions moves to Albi. As Group CEO, he will own day-to-day execution, operating priorities, and business decisions.

Goyal cited his inclination towards new ideas that involve higher levels of risk, experimentation and exploration as a reason for stepping down for the Group CEO role. “These are the kinds of ideas that are better pursued outside a public company like Eternal,” he added.

According to Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s parent firm currently requires remaining focused and disciplined in its current business strategy. If my new ideas belonged within Eternal’s strategic scope, he would have pursued them within the company, he clarified.

Expressing his strong connection with the firm over the last eighteen years, he said that he will continue to contribute in building this company.

About Albinder Dhindsa

In his resignation letter addressed to the shareholders, Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal said that Albinder Dhindsa has led Blinkit’s journey from acquisition to its breakeven. He credited Dhindsa for building the team, the culture, the supply chain and the operating rhythm of the firm.

Goyal referred to him as a battle-hardened founder possessing the ability to execute far better than him.

He emphasised that Blinkit remains the largest growth opportunity of the Group and will continue to be Albi’s top priority.
